Over the last 10 years, Cheryl has been a volunteer for Goochland CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). As a CASA, she served as a voice for eight different children in court. According to former Goochland CASA director Ann Casey, Cheryl is a wonderful CASA volunteer. She had a quiet and empathetic manner that allowed her to ask difficult questions without making the children feel uncomfortable. She had a likable personality and made a point of regularly checking in with everyone involved in her cases. Her respectful and encouraging attitude towards her own children also extended to her work with CASA children.
Recently appointed as a Goochland CASA board member in 2021, Cheryl has been active in attending board meetings, fundraising events and helping with social media publicity. She is known for her 100% reliability. She is always available to help with Goochland CASA outreach and fundraising events.
Cheryl is an active volunteer in Goochland, participating in several organizations, including Goochland 4H: Thunderhooves horse club, Southern States, Rassawek Festival and Days of the Past. To add to her repertoire of volunteer work, Cheryl has worked with Meals on Wheels to pack and deliver meals while also checking in on the elderly.
According to her colleagues, Cheryl is friendly and cooperative. She is also trustworthy and dependable. She demonstrates care and understanding towards others and is able to make informed decisions by considering all the facts and circumstances. Cheryl's supervisor describes her as earnest, honest, and sensitive. She takes on tasks successfully through hard work and a positive attitude. Cheryl is committed and professional, making her a valuable resource to any program and team.
Cheryl has been a supportive and dedicated volunteer for Goochland CASA in so many ways. She is a Goochland CASA superhero!
